Bryan’s MTG Arena Decks for BO1

I have a bit of a flaw as a deckbuilder. Well, maybe it’s not actually a flaw. But it might make this list of decks I’m currently playing on Arena BO1 a little bit boring. You see, if I am convinced something is broken, I’m going to invest all my time into that strategy until I feel like I’ve maximized it.

And Wilderness Reclamation is freaking broken beyond belief. As such, I’m just brewing a lot of different big mana strategies. Some are uniquely suited to BO1, and some I think are entirely ready to port over to BO3 play. On to the lists.

4 Revitalize (M19) 35
4 Gift of Paradise (M19) 184
1 Forest (RIX) 196
3 Wilderness Reclamation (RNA) 149
1 Island (RIX) 193
4 Nexus of Fate (M19) 306
3 Emergency Powers (RNA) 169
3 Circuitous Route (GRN) 125
4 Guild Summit (GRN) 41
4 Azorius Guildgate (RNA) 243
4 Simic Guildgate (RNA) 258
4 Selesnya Guildgate (GRN) 256
4 Plaza of Harmony (RNA) 254

1 Hydroid Krasis (RNA) 183
1 Warrant // Warden (RNA) 230

2 Gruul Guildgate (RNA) 250
1 Hallowed Fountain (RNA) 251
1 Temple Garden (GRN) 258
1 Arch of Orazca (RIX) 185

I wrote plenty about this list over on Starcity this week. It’s insanely busted, and insanely linear and vulnerable to counterplay. That’s ok. It’s plenty competitive and proof of what Wilderness Reclamation is capable of.

2 Hydroid Krasis (RNA) 183

9 Island (RIX) 193
7 Forest (RIX) 196
1 Karn, Scion of Urza (DAR) 1

1 Shimmer of Possibility (RNA) 51
2 Memorial to Genius (DAR) 243
4 Nexus of Fate (M19) 306

A little bit cleaner Fog list, I like the approach of maximizing card advantage from your manabase, but I think this kind of setup is just a little underpowered compared to Temur and Bant versions of the archetype.

4 Growth Spiral (RNA) 178
1 Island (RIX) 193
3 Settle the Wreckage (XLN) 34
2 Plains (RIX) 192
2 Search for Azcanta (XLN) 74

2 Memorial to Genius (DAR) 243
1 Arch of Orazca (RIX) 185

Sideboard
2 Ixalan’s Binding (XLN) 17
3 Negate (RIX) 44
1 Angel of Grace (RNA) 1
2 Lyra Dawnbringer (DAR) 26
2 Shalai, Voice of Plenty (DAR) 35
2 Knight of Autumn (GRN) 183
1 Crushing Canopy (GRN) 126
1 Warrant // Warden (RNA) 230
1 Hydroid Krasis (RNA) 183

This deck is gas and is ready to go in BO3. If you’ve ever played control mirrors where one side has access to instant speed acceleration and the other side doesn’t, you know how this story ends. This deck gains mana advantage so easily. It’s definitely a control killer, eats up opposing midrange, and has to work feverishly to keep pace with aggressive red decks. Don’t worry, that matchup gets shored up in postboard games.

4 Growth Spiral (RNA) 178
1 Island (RIX) 193
1 Forest (RIX) 196
4 Gift of Paradise (M19) 184
4 Circuitous Route (GRN) 125
4 Hydroid Krasis (RNA) 183
4 Gates Ablaze (RNA) 102
4 Gatebreaker Ram (RNA) 126
4 Izzet Guildgate (GRN) 251
4 Gruul Guildgate (RNA) 250
4 Simic Guildgate (RNA) 258
4 Plaza of Harmony (RNA) 254
4 Breeding Pool (RNA) 246
4 Hinterland Harbor (DAR) 240
3 Mass Manipulation (RNA) 42
1 Banefire (M19) 130
4 Guild Summit (GRN) 41
2 Shimmer of Possibility (RNA) 51

The sole non-Wilderness Reclamation list I’ve been playing, this led me to the Nexus of Gate deck, but I enjoyed this version quite a bit as well. Again, a mid-range killer that can falter a bit against aggressive strategies, especially those helmed by Tajic.
